We call ourselves men and women of faith, and so we are, but we need to define faith. We need to know what we are men and women of!

According to the Word of God, “… faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Not seen with what? With the natural eye. Just because faith cannot be seen with the natural eye does not mean that faith does not exist; it means you cannot see it. In the spirit realm faith has substance. It is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.

If you were asked if you believed in angels, you would probably reply “yes” even if you have never seen an angel. Well, how do you know there are angels? It is because the Word of God says so. In the spirit realm, angels have substance. If you were in the spirit realm, you could handle them, talk with them, pat them on the back and tell them they’re doing a good job. If we could see into the spirit realm, we would see the angels of the Lord encamped around us. In fact, those of you who are operating in faith have more angels of protection around you because you are under greater attack from the enemy.

Faith as far as God is concerned has as much substance as any object does in the natural. Take a chair for example. You can feel it and handle it. In the spirit realm, God can handle faith and feel it. It has substance. It’s real. If we could shift our eyes into the spirit realm as we release faith we would see substance appear, the substance of faith.

In Mark 11:22 Jesus said, “Have faith in God.” Literally, the Greek says “Have the faith of God.” In other words “Have the same kind of faith God has” or ”Have the faith that belongs to God. Have His faith.” Jesus would not tell us to do this if it were not possible. He wouldn’t hold something in front of us and then pull it away when we reached for it. For us to have the faith of God, it must be available to us. It must mean we can have it. We can and we do.

Faith is an attribute of God and it is also an attribute of all His children. God has given us the means of reaching out into the spirit realm to bring our desires into the natural realm. We have need of natural things such as cars, houses, land, money, health, protection, and we need to bring all of these from the supernatural realm into the natural realm. Faith bridges that gap. It is the link between God and man, between the spiritual and the natural. “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is a product of God, not a product of man. Jesus said, “Have the faith of God.” He didn’t say to have the faith of Caesar, or Jesus, or Paul, or Matthew. He said, “Have the faith of God.” Faith comes from God and God is not a man. God is as Spirit. Therefore, faith must be spiritual.

The Bible is an instruction book, not for operating in the natural, but for operating in the spirit realm. That is why the world cannot understand it. You and I have been born twice. Those who have not been born again have only been born one time. They operate in this earth under this world’s system which is backed by the personality of Satan. In 1 Corinthians 4:4, Satan is called the god of this world.

In Greek there are two words for world. One is aion meaning age used in 1 Corinthians 4:4. It could more accurately be translated, “the god of this age.” Satan is only the god of this age. In other words, when this age is over, satan won’t be the god anymore. When Jesus comes to start a new age, satan will be gone.

The other Greek word for world is kosmos meaning world’s system or organization. The English word cosmetics comes from kosmos. Cosmetics simply means to organize the face. The world is under an organized system right now. In John 12:31, we read, “N ow is the judgment of this world: Now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” Here Satan is called the prince of this kosmos. He is not only the god of this aion of age, but also the prince of the kosmos, this world’s system or organization. Other references to Satan as the god of this kosmos are John 14:30 and John 16:8-11. This world is operating under a system.

How do you enter into this world's system? Through birth. Birth entitles you to operate under this system. In it, Satan has counterfeited God to meet the basic needs of man. God offers us fulfillment, freedom, relationship, worship, protection, health, and prosperity and Satan has a counterfeit for each. Man needs to express himself in worship; so Satan offers religion. Man needs protection. God gives us angels; the world offers insurance. God offers health; the world has instituted doctors, hospitals and medicine. These things are NOT bad, but they do not match what God has. Thank God for the first birth; it entitled me to the second birth. If I hadn’t been born into this world, I could never have been born in God’s kingdom. If it hadn’t been for the world’s system, many of us would have been dead a long time ago. I’ve gone to a doctor, but the more I move on with God, the more I depend on Him. There is more power in one scripture than there is in all the doctors in the earth. The world needs finances. God offers prosperity; Satan tells you to save your money and get seven percent interest. I’m glad that God doesn’t operate that way. He offers a hundredfold return. Figured out as a percentage, that is 10,000 percent!

God’s system is always better than the world’s system. God’s system of finances is better than seven percent. God’s system of healing is better than doctors and medicine. One angel is far better than any insurance policy. Everything God offers is so much better than what natural man has.

How do we get hold of God’s system? We must be born into it. Just as you were born into this world, which entitled you to operate in this world’s system, you need to be born a second time into God’s kingdom so you can operate in His system. Some of us have been born the second time, but we have never taken advantage of God’s system. We are still operating only in the world’s system.

Everything we have learned in the world’s system is in accordance with the natural birth. Your schoolbooks, magazines, newspapers, television, everything programs you in the natural and teaches you about the world’s system. God’s system is different and there is only one place to find out about it and that is in the Word of God. As you follow the Bible, you will learn what the world has taught has not always been accurate. The world says the way to get money is to save it; God says to give it away. This does not make sense to the natural mind because you mind has been trained in this world’s system. It needs to be renewed.

The more you move out with God, the closer you get to Him and the more of a commitment you make to Him, the less options you will have. Eventually it will be God or nothing. As you grow closer and closer to the Lord, there will be some things you cannot go back and do. You will have moved so far past them in God’s system, that to go back would be wrong. There are some medicines that I used to take that I no longer take. I count on God as my Healer. For me to go back and take them would be for me to turn my back on God in that area. James 4:4 says friendship with the world (kosmos) is enmity with God.

Friendship with the world’s system is enmity with God. I am not a fanatic who will tell you to drop all your credit cards immediately, drop all your insurance, never go to a bank again and never take medicine again, but we do need a target to shoot for. These things are good, but there is a much better way and God’s way is so much better!

What are you going to do when the bank goes under? At the rate they’re going, they’ll not last much longer. Satan cannot have anything that lasts. It might look good on the outside; it might work for awhile, but it can’t last. God’s system is not based on Wall Street; it’s not based on the averages of one day or the next; it’s not based on inflation or recession: it’s based on His riches in glory by Christ Jesus and heaven can never have a depression!

The Bible is a spiritual book, a supernatural book, not based on what man has to say. Man cannot understand it because he doesn’t have the new birth. He tries to understand it with his mind, but it doesn’t make any sense. First Corinthians 1:18 says this book is foolishness to thosw who are perishing. To us it is the wisdom of God, but we, as Christians, cannot approach it with our mind either. Many things I am operating in today, my mind says will not work, but experience says they do work; so my mind agrees to go ahead with them. Some are operating in faith today and they still do not know how it works; it just works. One way to program and renew your mind is for it to see the Word work over and over again. Your mind needs that proof. The Word works.

Faith is an attribute of every Christian. Romans 12:3 tells us we have all been dealt the measure of faith. We have all been given the measure. First Peter 1:1 tells us we have all been given like precious faith. Every one of us has the same amount of faith. God starts us all on the same level. He wasn’t more generous with you than He was with me. He gave us all the measure of faith.

If faith is an attribute of God, how did I get faith? I had to be born of God. Your attributes came from birth. How did you get hands? You were born of man and hands are an attribute of man. You have feet because they are an attribute of man. You gained everything you have in the natural because you were born of earthly parents.

Everything produces after its own kind. That is the law of Genesis. If you plant corn, you get corn; if you plant wheat, you get wheat; if you plant love, you receive love; if you plant money, you receive money. Cats produce cats; elephants produce elephants; people produce people; God produces spirits. God is a Spirit; so He produces spirits. Everything you have right now was given to you when you were born. You didn’t have to go out and get hands later on. How many Christians are going around today praying for faith when they already have it? That would be as silly as you praying for hands if you already have two hands. People produce people. When you turned one year old, no one cut off your newborn hands and put one year old hands on you. When you turned five, no one cut off your year old feet and put on five year old feet. When you were born, within your hands was the capability to increase to the size they are today. That potential was there when you were born. You do not need to pray for more faith. The faith you were given when you were born again has within itself the capability of increasing.

Have you ever noticed the day babies discover their hands? They look at them and turn them over almost as if to say, “What is that? Where did that come from?” Do you remember they day you discovered your faith? You had been praying for years for God to give you faith and one day you heard the truth that you already had faith.

When you were born, your hand couldn’t even hold a bottle, your eyes couldn’t focus and your feet couldn’t hold you up. Those same hands now drive a car; those eyes now read a book and those feet can now run. Why? Did it just happen overnight? No, they stumbled and made mistakes, but you kept using them and they became proficient. We have people today that can make nuclear reactors with hands that at one time couldn’t hold a bottle. With exercise and food, the attributes you received at birth continue to grow.

When you were born of God, you received all of His attributes. God is love;you received love, not on the outer man, for that was born of man. It is in the inner man that was born of God. God has passed all His attributes on to you giving you everything you need to operate in His system. God will not be adding anything to you. He has already given you the capability within yourself to increase. Just as you never quit learning new things in the natural, in the spirit you can keep growing and growing, getting richer and richer, healthier and healthier, and more and more protected. You will break away more and more from the world’s system until you are just riding high on God’s system and as far as you are concerned, the world could go under tomorrow and you would never go under. Though you fall, you will never be utterly cast down because under you are the everlasting arms of God.

We have the faith of God. It is on the inside. How do we get this faith that is on the inside to the outside? We need worship, protection, health and prosperity. Every one of these things concerns the outside of man. If faith is inside, how do we get it to the outside where we really need it? When Jesus told us to have the faith of God, He went on to instruct us how: “For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:23-24)

God is to release them through your mouth. Once you release your faith through the words of your mouth, it will be on the outside and it can begin to produce. Seed does no good as long as it is in a grainery or in a sack. You need to take it out, put it in the ground and then it can produce. It is the same with faith:it does no good resident within you. You cannot only be a hearer of the Word; you must also be a doer of the Word by planting seed or speaking your faith, and once the seed is planted, it is in the place where it can produce.

Another way to plant the seed of faith is to believe that you receive when you pray. The harvest will come: “ye shall have them.” The Word of God assures us when we plant, water, and feed our seed by faith with our confession and God’s Word, it WILL produce. God said it would.

Not only does everything produce after its kind, but everything has a voice or a language characteristic to its nature. Cats meow because they have a cat nature. Dogs bark because they have a dog nature. Chickens cluck because they have a chicken nature. We expect a baby to cry when we spank him. We don’t expect him to cluck because babies do not have a chicken nature, they have a human nature.

Everything has a language. We receive the language of the inner man from our Father who is in heaven. The language of your born again spirit calls those things which be not as though they were, just as our Father does. Abraham had faith in God and it was accounted unto him for righteousness and he began to express the voice of his inner man. God said, “You are a father of many nations,” and Abraham said, “I am a father of many nations,” even though from the natural it didn’t look like it. The spirit man calls those things which be not as though they were.

Jesus said to speak to the mountain not after it moves, but while it is standing there with no evidence it is even going to move. This is when you speak it. This is the voice of the inner man, not the outer man. Abraham believed and said he was the father of many nations even before Sarah became pregnant. He called those things which be not as though they were, and they came to pass.

To talk faith should be natural to you. Speaking of things that have not yet manifested themselves should be natural because this is the language of your Father. You received it when you were born again. How did God make the earth? God spoke and the planets came into existence. God speaks of those things which be not as though they were, and we have inherited this language from Him.

If we heard two doctors talking doctor talk, we wouldn’t think a thing about it. We wouldn’t laugh at them even though we didn’t understand them. Two computer men could be talking about all the things which constitute a computer and we wouldn’t make fun even though were on a different wavelength. When I was in electronics, I would talk about ohms, capacitors, and resistors and no one ever thought it odd. Have you ever noticed two people talking faith language? The world thinks they are strange.

“I believe I’m healed (cough, cough). Praise God, with His stripes I was healed.” The world thinks you are crazy, but this is the language of faith. I drive a midsize car, but if you ever want to ride with me, I will ask you to get into my faith luxury car, because I believed I received it. When a faith person gets into my car, he says, “Praise God. I believe with you.” Another person would reply, “That is the dumbest thing I ever hear.” Not so, it is two faith people talking faith’s language.

Faith is the voice of the inner man calling those things which be not as though they were.
